Optus has launched a mobile application store that allows customers to purchase and download applications for their compatible 2G and 3G enabled Symbian, Android, Blackberry, Windows Media, and Java handsets.
Optus says that its application store has a variety of categories including Games, Utilities, Entertainment, Music, Social Networking, Finance, Sports, Business, Lifestyle, Productivity, Education, Books, Weather, Navigation, Health & Fitness, Medical, Themes, Reference, Photography, News, and Reference.
General Manager of Optus Content and Portals, Mark Mulder said, “The Optus Application Store gives our customers an easy to navigate ‘one stop shop’ to purchase a full suite of applications via Optus Zoo. We are the first Australian operator to give customers access to an Application Store with a range of categories, across a multitude of genres. It allows every customer with a data enabled handset to pick and choose an app that suits them, and with one click, the freedom to be charged automatically via their mobile bill.”
“With close to 1000 applications available to customers at launch, and the ability to browse via rating, category or review, we are confident there will be something of interest for everyone,” added Mulder.
Customers will be charged a one-time purchase fee for the application and all subsequent data usage from it. To access the Optus Application Store, users must click on the APP Store icon in Optus ZOO via your mobile or SMS ‘APP’ to 966.
