Australian-based cyber threats more than doubled in 2015, making Australia one of the top 10 global host nations for such threats, according to a new Threat Intelligence Brief report by US-based Internet security company Webroot.
The threats included malicious IP addresses, suspicious URLs and phishing sites, Webroot said.
Webroot Australia MD Robbie Upcroft said phishing attacks had greatly increased. “I guess it’s no surprise, given that we’re a well-performing economy with a very Internet-connected society, so it poses an attractive opportunity for a lot of the cybercriminals,” he told the ABC.
