JB Hi-Fi has taken to Facebook and Twitter to denounce scammers who are pretending to offer jobs as product testers for the retailer via SMS.

The message is designed to look like a friendly offer and then directs the reader to click on a malicious link.

To trick the recipient, the message includes the name and city of the targeted person.

The electronics retailer alerted people over social media, exposing the scam and clarifying that they would never ask for personal information via SMS.

The only texts that JB Hi-Fi will send are notifications, services or digital receipts if you specifically asked for one when you made a purchase at the counter.
