Australian consumers can now buy US tech products cheaply using a new service supplied by Bongo International.
However, purchasers need to be aware that most local vendors and distributors of these items will not cover warranties from overseas. In other words, if your newly acquired computer or GPS breaks down, you’ll have to ship it back to the US for repair.
However, Bongo still thinks the new service will be popular amongst those sick of buying local goods that seem inflated compared to the US prices, even with the exchange rate and shipping are taken into account.
Bongo helps consumers navigate the red tape by giving them their own American address (with costs starting at $5), where they can send products they have bought and reduce shipping costs on multiple purchases by consolidating them into one package.
Traditionally, shipping a single item from the US can cost as much as the item itself, but through Bongo consumers can now save as much as 82 percent off standard carrier rates.
If the retailer doesn’t accept an Australian credit card you can use Bongo’s Personal Shopping Service to make the purchase on your behalf, ensuring an easy and safe transaction.
