Tech fanatics are keeping 6am vigils outside their place of worship in a bid to get hold of the divine prize – the iPad 2.
Having passed by the Apple store on Friday evening last my eyes met a massive queue around the block for the tech giants latest installation of the “lighter, thinner, faster” tab device.
Although this was expected, it seems the hype hasn’t died down with Aussie fans still vying for the device some three days after its release on Friday at 5pm last.
A slew of hard core fans are lining up outside Sydney’s Apple store on George St well before opening hours on a daily basis since Friday, an Apple store employee said this morning.
And the iPad is selling out before the store even opens, meaning some many who are keeping an early morning vigil are probably going home disappointed – and empty handed.
The store are replenishing stock every day, it was confirmed.
However, “we recommend coming in before the store opens,” the Apple rep said.
And for those wishing to avoid the morning jostle, purchasing online is no easy or speedy feat either.
The iPad 2 can be ordered from the Apple Store online but has a 3-4 week wait so those wishing to to get their hands on the newest tab in town might have to join the Apple Store Holy Grail, in Sydney at least.
And is it worth the fuss? We’ll have to wait and see.
