Amazon has confirmed the release schedule for its next-generation Kindle Scribe lineup, unveiling both an updated Kindle Scribe and the brand-new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. Details of both have appeared on Amazon’s Australian retail website.

In a move unusual for a major launch, the company announced it will not take preorders, instead requiring buyers to purchase directly once sales open.
The new Kindle Scribe will debut on December 10 in Australia in two versions: a front-light model priced at US$499.99 and a non-front-light version that will follow at US$429.99. The headline addition, the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, will be US$629.99 and introduces a colour e‑paper display to Amazon’s e‑note range. It comes to market in Australia in January. The new listings do not include Australian-specific pricing.
This marks the second major revision of the Scribe since its debut. The device now features a larger 11‑inch display, slimmed down to a 5.4mm chassis, and a quad‑core processor with expanded memory designed to reduce pen latency and speed up page turns.

The Colorsoft model brings a new rendering engine that enhances colour quality. The colour e‑paper offers softer hues, paper‑like contrast in bright light, and weeks of battery life. The device comes in graphic and grey colour variants.
Both devices come with a choice of 32GB and 64GB of storage.
Every Scribe ships with a stylus that supports ten ink colours, and five highlight options. Amazon has added native support for Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, and a Quick Notes feature for instant jotting.
Artificial intelligence is also being woven into the experience. Users can run AI‑powered searches across documents, generate summaries, and ask follow‑up questions.
