Apple Music is coming to Sonos, with Sonos and Apple today announcing that the music streaming service will land on Sonos smart speakers in public beta from December 15.Users will be able to stream the range of Apple Music features, including For You, New, Radio and My Music, with Sonos and Apple “recruiting music lovers to help redefine how to fill homes with Apple Music on Sonos”.
“The introduction of Apple Music marks an inflection point for streaming and its mass adoption,” Sonos co-founder and chief executive officer John MacFarlane commented.
“Now that we have access to virtually all the music on Earth, how music lovers listen to it is even more important. We are honoured to bring Apple Music to Sonos listeners all over the world.”
The public beta will allow many features of Apple Music to be controlled by the Sonos app on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC and Android phones, in any or multiple rooms in the home, with general availability to start early next year.
“Many of our members love Sonos and want to enjoy our service throughout their homes,” Eddy Cue, Apple senior vice president of internet software and services, commented. “We’re thrilled to be working with Sonos to provide the Apple Music experience in even more places fans enjoy music.”
