Swedish-based furniture giant, IKEA, has announced a partnership with Sonos, to launch products for its ‘IKEA Home Smart Range’ in 2019, focused on enhancing consumers’ homes with great audio.
Björn Block, Business Leader, of IKEA Home smart at IKEA of Sweden, affirms that the majority of consumers believe music is what makes a home.
IKEA and Sonos will collaborate together “to make it even easier for people to play any song, anywhere in the home, without interrupting the flow of daily life”.
Mr Block states that in partnership with Sonos, IKEA want to “democratise music and sound in the home, and we want to create products designed for how people listen together at home”.
“By teaming up with Sonos we want to combine IKEA home furnishing knowledge with Sonos’ expertise within great home sound”, states Block.

Sonos CEO, Patrick Spence, agrees that sound is an essential part of consumers’ homes, and will partner with IKEA to create products and experiences that make people’s home look and sound more amazing”.

IKEA and Sonos’ collaboration will roll out in-store sometime in 2019.

The Swedish furniture giant commenced its journey into smart home products with the launch of wireless mobile phone charging products in 2015, and smart lighting items in 2016.
IKEA claims the “exploration of sound” is the “third step for IKEA Home Smart”.
