Iomega has launched two new media players that allow a user to enjoy various media files on their HD TV without being connected to the computer.

According to Iomega, the new family of ScreenPlay HD Media Player products represents the most versatile multimedia product offerings in the market today: two different products with different features at different prices.

Our new ScreenPlay HD Media Player products take that excellence to the next level with exciting new high definition capabilities, greater compatibility with the most popular media file types, an improved user interface, wireless capabilities and so much more.”
The new ScreenPlay Director HD Media Player plays videos in 1080p (24fps) and up to 1TB of space. It is DivX Home Theatre-certified to play popular DivX video, and supports various CODECs and file types, including H.264, WMV and MKV. The ScreenPlay Director is compatible with PCs and Macs and has an Ethernet connection so you can store, access and share videos, photos and music across your home network.
The new ScreenPlay Director is DLNA-compatible to interact with other compatible devices on your home network, and is Wi-Fi ready so you can connect to your network wirelessly (USB Wi-Fi adaptor sold separately).
The ScreenPlay Director also includes a selection of popular online media pre-configured, such as YouTube, Flickr, Shoutcast Internet radio, RSS feeds and podcasts. The ScreenPlay Director can be configured to add other RSS feeds and podcasts. You can also attach other external storage devices, a camera, flash drives, or a Wi-Fi adapter, via its USB ports.
Another new product in the ScreenPlay product family is the entry-level HD media player, the ScreenPlay Plus. Available in 1TB capacity, the affordable new ScreenPlay Plus supports native high definition 720p and 1080i video playback, and is DivX Home Theatre-certified to play DivX video.
The ScreenPlay Plus is compatible with such media formats as MP3, AC3 (Dolby Digital Encoding), WAV, WMA, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (AVI-VOB), MPEG-4 (AVI/DivX/XViD) and JPEG. The ScreenPlay Plus includes an HDMI connection and a USB 2.0 port for accessing additional storage from a portable hard drive or a USB Flash drive.
The Iomega Protection Suite of software is bundled free of charge and includes a free six-month subscription of the powerful McAfee VirusScan Plus software. Also included is Iomega QuikProtect for simple scheduled file-level backup, as well as a choice between EMC Retrospect Express or Express HD to back up your data, plus applications and settings.
The new 1TB Iomega ScreenPlay Director HD Media Player is now available in Australia for $399; The new 1TB Iomega ScreenPlay Plus HD Media Player is available for $299; All of the new ScreenPlay HD Media Player Products are backed by a three-year warranty.
