PlayStation has confirmed its new Marvel’s Spider-Man (PS4) is Sony’s fastest selling first-party game in company history, with a whopping 3.3 million units sold in the first three days of launch.
As per USA Today, the game is also Sony Interactive Entertainment’s highest pre-ordered title, with over a million copies sold prior to launch.
Retailing for US$59.99, commentators forecast the game has already generated around US$198 million in revenue.

By contrast, the recently launched Spider-Man: Homecoming movie has reportedly collected around US$117 million during its opening weekend box office.
The latest Spider-man game is the first to launch since 2014’s Amazing Spider-Man 2. Both the game and the accompanying movie received lacklustre reviews at the time.
Exclusive to Sony’s PlayStation 4, the latest title has an 87/100 rating on Metacritic. Reviews have thus far praised the game’s graphics and storyline.
Whilst the title does not feature online game modes, Sony has confirmed it’s releasing three downloadable stories in October.
Sony has included Spider-Man PlayStation 4 Pro bundles as part of the game’s sales numbers, and has not disclosed how many limited edition consoles sold.
Launching next month on 23rd October, the upcoming DLC Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City that Never Sleeps, is available to pre-order now on the PlayStation Store.
