Vodafone Hutchison Australia chief marketing officer Kim Clarke – once seen as a future candidate for chief executive – has quit the company after two years in the job. Clarke’s move means the chief marketing officers at all three of Australia’s biggest telcos have quit in the past six months.
Telstra’s chief marketing officer Mark Buckman resigned suddenly in July for personal reasons, while SingTel-Optus’s Nathan Rosenberg departed in August.
Marketing is a key role at all three companies, which have collectively spent billions of dollars improving their mobile networks. The telcos have been spending big on advertising campaigns to win new subscribers who can pay for the investments.
